Crocheted Stocking

DIRECTIONS: use G hook

You will make 2 to join together later:

Key: ch = chain ; dc = double crochet ; sl st = slip stitch ; sc = single crochet

Ch 10

ROW 1: dc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch = 9 dc

ch 2 (counts as one dc), turn

ROWS 2-6: dc in second dc from end, dc across, (need 9 dc total), ch 2 turn

ROW 7: dc across, ch 7 and turn

ROW 8: dc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch, dc in remaining stitches to end = 15 dc, ch 1 turn

ROW 9: dc across, ch 1, turn

ROW 10: skip first stitch, dc in each stitch to last stitch (14 dc total), Ch 1, turn.

ROW 11: skip first stitch, dc in each stitch to last stitch (13 dc total), sl st in last stitch. At end of Row 11 cut yarn.

Joining Row: Place 2 pieces together, join yarn through both layers in top front of stocking, then single crochet (sc) evenly around outer edge of stocking, ending at top back edge and leaving top open, ch 10 and sl st in same place as last sc for hanging loop. Cut yarn.
